 ...for Children with Specific Learning Difficulties

Special Attention Project (SAP) is a Ghanaian Non-Governmental Organization that improves the lives of children with Specific Learning Difficulties by spreading information to the public, advocating for learning support for pupils with learning difficulties in mainstream schools, doing research and training on Specific Learning Difficulties as well as providing practical support to out-of-school children with learning difficulties in the streets of Accra.



Dyscalculia refers to a wide range of lifelong learning disabilities involving math (National Center for Learning Disability, 2006). Persons who have Dyscalculia report performances which fall substantially below on mathematics than that expected for their chronological age, measured intelligence, and age-appropriate education.

Symptoms include:

  •  Difficulty with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division ;
  •  Difficulty matching faces to names;
  •   Difficulty with times tables;
  •  Difficulty keeping score during games;
  • Difficulty with financial organization.
